South Africa vs Afghanistan: AB de Villiers show leads South Africa to win over Afghanistan

South Africa beat Afghanistan by 37 runs.

  Match was played at Mumbai. South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first.  South Africa with a good start in powerplay and score 66-1, losing the wicket of Amla in third over. De Kock continued his form and score 45 from 31 balls. But they were restricted 138-3 till 16 over but “Mr.360 degree” A.B. de Villiers in Rashid’s Khan over hits 4 sixes and one four. With the help De Villiers innings of 64 of just 29 balls , South Africa puts up a big score 209 by losing 5 wickets. Ameer Hamza had the best bowling figure from Afghanistan of 25-1 in his 3 overs.

 The targets for the underdogs were huge but they have the courage to face it. Mohammad Shahzad the young man made a brilliant start , Afghanistan  were 33-0 in first 2 overs. Shahzad  22 runs in Abbott’s  first over. Shahzad was out for 44 of just 19 balls with 5 sixes. From that wicket, Afghanistan lost their momentum in the match and were all-out for 172 in the last ball of the match. But Afghanistan with a spirited run chase show that underdogs are being better and better everyday.

In the presentation party South Africa’s captain du Plessis spoke: “I felt a little dejavu after Shahzad started like that in the powerplay. Today Chris Morris stood up and brought us back into the game. You want to have your fast bowlers to stand up with some aggression and that is what we did today. Our batting was really solid, but our extras let us down again we still have work to do on that.”

Chris Morris was awarded the man of the match for his spell of 4-27 in his four overs.
